JOSHUA BUTLER graduated Summa Cum Laude from USC Film School in 1995 having written and directed the award-winning short WILL WORK FOR FOOD. By 2003 he had directed 3 series for USA Network/Syfy Channel and 4 feature-length films: BEER MONEY written by Rich Wilkes (xXx); PRANCER RETURNS produced by Raffaella De Laurentiis (winning 12 awards including Best Family Movie at the Young Artist Awards); SAINT SINNER written and produced by Clive Barker (nominated for an International Horror Guild award); and DEATHLANDS, a post-apocalyptic epic for Syfy Channel starring Vincent Spano and Traci Elizabeth Lords, which Joshua also executive-produced. In addition to the Syfy Channel, Joshua has produced original movies for ESPN and MTV, as well as short films, music videos, web series, the documentary feature CARE, and the acclaimed 2017 horror film EVEN LAMBS HAVE TEETH. In 2008, Joshua wrote and directed the cult sensation VLOG for Twisted Pictures and the producers of SAW, which premiered at the Hollywood Film Festival, went on to play 21 festivals winning numerous awards, and was released on Halloween 2011 by Anchor Bay Entertainment. Since then, Joshua has directed the CW shows THE ORIGINALS, THE SECRET CIRCLE, RINGER and NIKITA, as well as TWISTED, RAVENSWOOD and PRETTY LITTLE LIARS for Disney/Freeform. He also directed CRISIS for NBC, RECKLESS for CBS, 5 episodes of FOX's THE FOLLOWING starring Kevin Bacon, an epic music video for Ryan Star entitled BULLET, cult series MATADOR for Robert Rodriguez and the El Rey Network, short film DOGHOUSE starring Michael Maize and Erin Daniels which was short-listed for Oscar consideration, Joe Carnahan's NBC thriller STATE OF AFFAIRS starring Katherine Heigl, the award-winning Scenarios USA short film HOUSE NOT HOME for Showtime, 11 episodes of the CW phenomenon THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and Kurtzman/Orci’s CBS show LIMITLESS produced by and starring Bradley Cooper. Most recently, Joshua directed a music video starring Joshua Jackson for the band MENEW, a series of music videos for Tony Award-winning singer-songwriter Levi Kreis, multiple episodes of Syfy Channel's adaptation of best-selling books THE MAGICIANS and the 2017 Winter Finale of McG’s Disney/Freeform adaptation of YA classic SHADOWHUNTERS: THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS. He is currently working hard on writing and directing a feature film.
